Bali Pass Trek | Explore the Himalayas

Rupin Pass Trek

The Bali Pass Trek (4800 metres above sea level) passes through mountainous landscape, rocky stones, dense trees with greens everywhere, smooth, silky rich green meadows, snow-clad glaciers, and ice-frozen walking roads, among other things. The Tons River Valley is the starting point for the Ball Pass Trek, which ends in the Yamuna River Valley.

The Bali Pass Trek features excellent beauty of Himalayan Peaks such as Swargarohini, Kalanag, and Banderpunch, as well as a magnificent picture of Supine Valley, as well as a holy-dip in the sacred Ruinsara Lake and visits to Yamunotri Temple as add-ons. From June through December is the greatest time to go on this walk. Backpackers love the route from Dehradun to Sankri, which passes through Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, Naugaon, Purola, Mori, and Netwar. The true route starts at Sankri and passes via Govind National Park (wonderful blossoms in pine and deodar woodland), Taluka, Seema, Roiltia Waterfall Camp, Ruinsara Lake, Godari Camp (4100 metres), Upper Dhamni via Bali Pass, Yamunotri, and Hanuman Chatti.

After a 7-hour trek from Dehradun, trekkers can visit Taluka and Seema after sleeping at Sankri (12 km). A walk into the forested range, though, will be more fascinating. Walking along the riverbed, past farmland, apple orchards, and pine trees. The trail from Seema to Roiltia is 4 kilometres long, and as trekkers pass through it, they can appreciate the lush fields, flora, and fauna provided by the Tons River. During the night, people camp happily at Roiltia Waterfall.

On the next lap of the tour, the path ascends for another 9 kilometres. Until you reach the Ruinsara valley and Ruinsara Lake, your eyes will delight in the pine, fir, birch, and rhododendron bushes and trees. These are breathtaking landscapes that only travellers in the Himalayan Mountains can appreciate. There are lush green meadows along the banks of Ruinsara Lake. Kalanag Peak may be seen clearly from here. This lake is regarded holy by the locals, and taking a holy plunge is considered divine.

Travelers can stay in Ruinsara Lake Camp for one more day before heading to Kyarkoti base camp for Kalanag mountain trekking and then returning to the centre. This respite also serves as a refuelling stop for the following day’s hike. Marching towards Godari (4100 metres) and resting in such a lovely location high on the mountain with a spectacular view of the valley below are truly remarkable experiences.

It will be interesting to go from Godari to Upper Damini through Bali Pass because you must first ascend to 4800 metres and then descend through the alpine zone to reach Upper Damini at 4000 metres. The stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, especially Panchachuli, will leave an indelible impression. The downward climb to Yamunotri and Hanumanchatti resumes after that. Stop along the way to the Yamunotri temple, which the people adore. Then, from Hanumanchatti, back to Dehradun with wonderful memories of the brave and beautiful Bali Pass Trek!

Day 01:

You will arrive in Dehradun early in the morning so that you may visit Sankari village by sunset. The journey from Dehradun to Sankari will be fascinating and enjoyable.

You will be travelling through Govind Peshu National Park on the final stretch of the drive. When you get at Sankri, you have the option of booking a hotel room or pitching a tent.

Day 02:

The day starts with a nice breakfast, and then you can travel to Taluka. Because the trail is hilly and rocky, you must exercise caution while trekking through this section of Taluka.

The walk will be enjoyable, with local residents greeting you along the way as the river Supin gushes through rapids beside you, beneath the shadow of walnut, pine, and other trees.

The trail passes through a few creeks that join into Supin. The village of Ganga may be seen over the river to the left after a few hours of walking.

You’ll continue hiking for another 1 hour till you reach the settlement of Osla. Seema is a small village located on the other bank of the river from Osla. You can either pitch your own tent or stay in the homes of the locals here in Osla.

Day 03:

On this day, you’ll continue following the Tons River’s actual right side of the valley. The trail winds through the farms and rises high above the Tons and Ruinsara gad’s confluence. The hike through the woodland is lovely, with Kalanag (6387) visible in the valley straight ahead.

You can set up camp beside the waterfall and enjoy the cool breeze carried by the water drops.

Day 04:

You’ll travel to Ruinsara Lake after camping near a waterfall. The vegetation changes dramatically, with pine and fir giving place to birch and rhododendron.

Ruinsara is a picturesque lake surrounded by rhododendron shrubs and meadows. The locals hold it in high regard. Camping by the lake for the night.

Day 05:

You can rest beside the lake and spend the day exploring the local glaciers and valleys if you’ve been trekking for the past four days. This will help you acclimate before the climb up the pass the next day.

You can also go to Kyarkoti, which serves as a base camp for the Black Peak (Kalanag) and the Dumdar Kandi pass.

Day 06:

You must leave Ruinsara early in the morning in order to arrive at Godari by sunset. There is a lovely campsite beside the glacier moraine where you can easily spend the day experiencing nature’s wonderful gift.

Day 07:

Today we begin at a fairly early hour. The trail descends and crosses the ridge to the south. The ascent up to the Bali pass on the southern ridge is rather short but steep.

There are numerous glacier peaks to be found here. When you reach the summit of Bali Pass, you will be astounded by the magnificent magnificence of the peak.

On a clear day, it will embrace you with the magnificent view of Banderpunch peaks, along with Bali pass top.

You can now begin your return journey after touring the Bali pass. From the Bali pass, you’ll descend to the Upper Dhamni Camping Grounds, which are in the Alpine zone.

Day 08:

Today we continue our journey back to Yamunotri through the Bali Pass and a hike through forested areas.

On the way back to Janki Chatti, you can also stop by the Yamunotri Shrine.

Day 09:

This is the last day of your journey, and you will return to Dehradun via car.
