If you are not able to get fiber through your diet, you can try supplements. As you take fiber supplements or eat fiber-rich foods, you will notice more frequent and softer bowel movements.

  1. Stay hydrated

Drinking enough liquids will add fluids to your body and help prevent constipation. It will also make your stools softer, which will be easier to pass. As the weather gets hotter or you start getting more physically active, you need to increase your fluid intake. 

However, not all drinks can help you stay hydrated. Drinking too much alcohol can lead to dehydration. The same goes for caffeine.

Having an unhealthy lifestyle and lack of physical activity can lead to constipation. You need to exercise for 30 minutes every day to ensure that your digestive system keeps moving and stays in good shape. You should work towards exercising for 150 minutes every week.

When your body gives you a signal that you need to take a bowel movement, you should not put it off for later. Waiting too long frequently can weaken the signals responsible for letting you know the time to go. If you hold it in longer, it will get harder and dryer, making it difficult to pass.
