Watch out for spring! Freshness does not equate to carelessness!
Spring has finally arrived, chasing away winter! Cool temperature, return of the sun and the terraces, all these changes in the atmosphere are elements that make us want to make our skin breathe and put all the oily creams of winter away from us.
But beware! The “in-between” seasons like fall and spring are the most treacherous according to skin specialist. This is where the skin prepares its adaptation for the more extreme seasons of summer and winter. It is true that your skin breathes better in the spring, but it also releases several toxins accumulated under the epidermis during the cold season.
Not all of these toxins are harmful, so be careful to dispose of them carefully, some of which can regenerate your skin. To do this, there are a few simple tips:
- Relax calmly in a sauna or hammam bath. Steam is very good for your skin while also draining toxins through sweat.
- Dilute the juice of one lemon in a glass of water every morning.
Thanks to this small mixture, you will perform a liver cleanse, which will make your complexion clearer. When it comes to creams, go for a regular cream (it all depends on your skin type, of course).
The important thing is not to fall for light cream too quickly. Already dried out by the cold of winter, your skin must be protected from the sun which becomes more and more present in spring.
Summer is finally time to breathe!
Spring has set the stage to prepare for the coming of summer. Thanks to the good care you have given your skin, it is ready to face the heat and the scorching sun.
The first thing to do is to hydrate it well. The skin is like a plant, the hotter it is and the more water becomes essential to its survival. It is therefore very important to drink at least one liter of water per day while eating a lot of fruit (another supply of water and vitamins). You will also use a light moisturizer depending on your skin type.
Cream and oxygen
Summer is the period when the skin secretes the most sebum (fat) which already provides protection against bad weather from the outside. A cream that is too greasy will ensure that toxins and other dust will stay locked under the layers of fat all summer. On the contrary, this season is made for breathing, so give your skin time to do it!
However, make sure that your cream has a high level of IP, in order to protect you from the sun’s rays. Despite all these precautions, it is possible that redness and irritation appear on your skin. Then use creams based on essential oils which will be gentle without being too greasy.
Autumn, the terrible start of the hard months
For months, your skin has adapted and made every effort to breathe and benefit from the energy and vitamins of the sun. Quietly the cold and the lack of sun set in. Here is another pivotal period, the one before winter and where we must find the delicate balance between the freedom of summer and the protection of winter.
Without rushing anything, the skin must be well prepared for the very difficult season of winter. To do this, do not hesitate to increase the number of moisturizing masks. You can also apply moisturizer to your hands, put on plastic gloves, and let the cream do its job overnight.
Vitamins A and E
The hands and the face are two places of the body which will be strongly affected by the winds and the cold of winter. So, prepare them well! Vitamins A and E are mainly needed by your body and its shell.
Vitamins A are easily found in seasonal vegetables; carrots, pumpkin, apricots, etc.
As for vitamin E, it is found more in oils or fatty foods. Be careful, this does not mean that we must eat fat! It is of course important to have a reserve of essential fats to survive the winter, but that does not mean that one should not eat healthy!
The dreaded winter
Lucky for us, it just ended. But we know, time flies too quickly before it resurfaces! Cold, snow, strong winds and sometimes even hail, these are bad weather that make life very difficult for the skin. What’s more, no matter how well we heat inside, the cold / hot shock remains very present. Add to that the lack of ambient humidity and you have a big challenge!
During this season, the skin secretes much less fat, with the sebum freezing below 8 degrees Celsius. So you need a moisturizer that is more oily than usual. It can happen to leave the night cream aside in the summer, but it is necessary during the winter. Also try to treat yourself to creams with added vitamins.
Shower and balm
The temptation will be strong to take long hot showers. But when winter hits, it’s best to shorten those showers. Hot water will affect your already dry and more fragile skin. Always have a lip balm handy. Necessary in all seasons, it will be even more necessary to prevent your lips from chapping and having a few cracks appearing there!
No matter the season, skin care always begins with healthy eating. Most importantly, your body and your skin need vitamins. By choosing fruits and vegetables in season, you will ensure that you are getting the necessary vitamins. For the rest, a few good hygiene habits will allow you to have bright skin with a clear complexion. No need to redo your pharmacy every month! A slight adaptation to each season and you will remain resplendent without breaking the bank!
