HP Printer is running Slow Here is the fix

There are several factors that affect the speed of your printer, but it is important to meet the keep the decent pace of your printer and for this, you need to try various things with the Setup of HP Printer.

In order to improve the speed of your printer, you first need to perform the basic troubleshooting using the ways given below which is provided by Printer Align Expert: 

Step 2: Reset the printer:

Start by resetting your printer, by following the steps given below: 

  1. Whilst the printer turned on, remove the power cord from the printer.
  2. Now remove the power cord from the power source
  3. Wait for a minute or two. 
  4. Now again connect the power cord to the wall outlet and printer

Important NOTE: It is recommended to plug the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Step 2: Use a different USB cable

If required, you can try another USB cable as it can resolve the printing related issues. Using a different USB cable can help you restore the optimum speed of your printer. Also, check if your HP printer is offline

If required, try the next step given below. 

Step 3: Check the preferences of the printer: 

The preferences play an important role in the functioning of your printer. So, make sure to select the right type of printing paper. Furthermore, select the Best quality can considerably slow down your printer. So it is advisable to use a plain paper with the quality set as Normal and Draft for better speed. To change the printer’s preferences, try the steps given below:

    1. First, go to Printers and then select Printers & scanners from a list of results.
    2. Now click on your printer, and then hit Manage.
    3. Select Printing Preferences.
    4. Next, choose Paper or Paper/Quality
    5. From the Type menu, select Paper Type field, and check that the Plain Paper is selected.

To adjust the print quality
In the HP Inkjet and LaserJet printers:

  • Go to the Print Quality field and then select.
  • Draft or Normal from the list.

HP Laser Printers:

  • Go to the Graphics tab, and then choose Standard from the Quality field.
  • Hit OK or Apply to save the changes.
  • Now, try to print on a new paper.

If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Step 4: Print with both cartridges

It is the fact if you print with only one cartridge that will certainly cause slower print speed. But some printer only allows or supports the printing with only one cartridge installed.

But if possible try using both the printers and check if they are properly installed. If required, replace the empty cartridges. If an issue occurs try to troubleshoot with the next step.

Step 5: Reinstall the print driver:

Remove and re-install the print driver and software, Download HP Printer Driver and install the latest print driver to improve the speed of printing: 

  1. From the Search bar, go to Add or remove programs.
  2. Select your printer and then hit Uninstall
  3. Once uninstalled, get the latest drivers from the website of the manufacturer, and then follow the on-screen instructions to Uninstall.
