Best OSRS Guide to Efficient Herb Farming in 2021

For supplying yourself or farming OSRS gold

Herbs are important for both Ironment and normal players. For the former, it’s the way they can train Herblore or make potions since they can’t buy in bulk from the GE. As for the latter, it’s a great source of herbs to sell for OSRS gold, especially Snapdragon, Ranarr, and Toadflax.

Here, we are going to explain the mechanics of Herb Farming, and how to efficiently and consistently get a high yield.

Herb Farming Mechanics

Herbs grow for about 80 minutes, going through five stages. As soon as it reaches the fifth, it’s ready to be harvested. A fully-grown herb patch has lived. Typically, they can be harvested 3 times (once per life). Once all lives are lost, it clears the patch and you can plant a new one.

You can increase the harvest in a few ways.

Increasing lives – using compost on a patch increases its life capacity. Regular compost adds 1, Super adds 2, and Ultra 3. Ultracompost effectively doubles patch yield, making it an important step for Herb Farming.

Chance to not use up a life – even at Farming level one, there is a small chance (6.2%) of not using up life when harvesting. Increasing this means more chances of harvesting and more yield. At 99, it doubles to 12.5%.

Using Magic Secateurs increases this probability by 10%. Some patches get an increase through completing achievement diaries. An Attas Plant similarly boosts this chance by 5% as will a Farming Cape. In the right patch with the highest bonus of an Achievement Diary and proper gear, this probability goes up to 42.5%. That’s almost half the time!

Keeping crops healthy – If patches get diseased and die, you can’t harvest from them. Preventing disease is crucial for a farm since you don’t get anything if it dies. Patches grow in five stages and are vulnerable in three.

Using compost drastically decreases the chances of this happening, especially when using ultracompost. Also, three herb patches are disease-free: Hosidius (requires 50% favor), Troll Stronghold (after My Arm’s Big Adventure), and Weiss (after Making Friends with My Arm). Also, the Iasor Plant would make it almost impossible for your plants to die.

Gearing Up

Of course, you need the proper gear to get the most yield out of your patches. That in turn will lead to more OSRS GP you can spend on the Grand Exchange. Here’s what you need for farming:

Magic Secateurs

Farming tools

Rake (if you haven’t been to the patch before)

Seed dibber

Spade

Herb seeds (9-10 of them)

Compost

Graceful outfit

Where to Plant

There are nine available herb patches.

North of Catherby Bank Patch – Simple enough to reach by running east after teleporting to Camelot. A Catherby Teleport spell is closer but more expensive. Placing a Catherby portal in your house can be a good alternative. It will take a few seconds longer since you have to load and go through your house before getting to the herb patch.

Cabbage Field Patch – North of Port Sarim and south of Falador, the easiest way to get here is to use an Explorer’s Ring 2. That requires the completion of the Lumbridge Achievement Diaries up to medium. Alternatively, you can teleport to Draynor (with an Amulet of Glory) and run northwest, or to Falador and run southeast. However, running takes quite sometime which makes it a little inefficient to do so.

Ardougne Patch – The fastest way to get to this plot of land is to use the teleport on the cloak after finishing the Medium Ardougne Diaries. Otherwise, there the Fairy Ring code bᐧlᐧr to the Legends Guild, or teleport to the Fishing Guild nearby. The Ranging Guild is also near (run southward, but not directly). Last, there’s teleporting to the town and then running to the east gate and going north from there.

Hosidius Patch – For convenience’s sake, moving your house to Kourend makes it very easy to access. You can also use Xeric’s Talisman to teleport to Xeric’s Glade. Using Karedst’s Memories to ‘lunch by the Lancalliums’ also puts you northwest of the patch. You have to do Depths of Despair first, though. The last method to access this is by teleporting to the Tithe Farm minigame and running west.

Ectofuntus Patch – Requires the Priest in Peril quest, easily accessed by using the aᐧlᐧq Fairy Ring code. There’s also the Ectophial from the Ghosts Ahoy quest, which teleports you to the east of the patch. Lastly, using Fenkenstrain’s Castle Teleport puts you west of the patch. Be wary if you’re under-leveled, as vampires and leeches lurk about the paths.

Farming Guild Patch – Requires 60% Hosidius favor and level 65 Farming. Just teleport to the Farming Guild and go to the left side wing.

Troll Stronghold – Opens after doing the quest ‘My Arm’s Big Adventure’. The closest teleport is a Stony Basalt Teleport, which requires completion of the sequel quest ‘Making Friends with My Arm’. Having basalt teleports in your house is the most convenient for accessing this patch. Trollheim Teleport can also be used but requires ‘Eadgar’s Ruse’ and some Agility, else you have to go the long way around.

Weiss Patch – Opens after doing ‘Making Friends with My Arm’. Also needs the Fire of Nourishment to be lighted. Using an Icy Basalt Teleport in your house is the most convenient way. Otherwise, you can talk to Larry in Relekka (Fairy ring dᐧkᐧs) to take the boat to Weiss. After that, make your way to the west side of the town.

Harmony Patch – Needs to have all (and yes, up to Elite) of the Morytania Achievement Diaries to unlock. An Arceuus Teleport spell brings you right where the patch is, so putting a portal for that in your house is good. The alternative is by buying a Mos’le Harmless Teleport Scroll from the GE and then talking to Brother Tranquility for a boat ride to Harmony Island.

Which OSRS Herbs to Plant?

What to plant depends on what you want to do. If you’re an Ironman trying to make potions, you should plant the herbs you need. Otherwise, here are some recommendations so you don’t have to buy OSRS gold for your needs.

Prices fluctuate all the time, but the three most profitable OSRS herbs are Snapdragon, Ranarr, and Toadflax. Snapdragon herbs are an ingredient for Super Restores. Ranarr Weeds are for Prayer Potions, and Toadflax for Saradomin Brews. Those potions are always in demand, which means the ingredients will be as well.

Other profitable (at the time of writing) herbs are:

Torstol

Cadantine

Avantoe

Lantadyme

Kwuarm

Other Tips to Take Note of

Having a route and order when visiting all these patches lets you make sure you don’t miss one. When you do miss a patch, that’s less yield for you. You only get the harvest on the missed patch on the next run. It’s a waste of time and effort, so plot a course and stick to it.

Use the Leprechaun service to note your herbs so they don’t clog your inventory. While you’re at it, get some ultracompost buckets as well.

Completing Achievement Diaries for the relevant locations brings more than benefits for farming. Make sure to do them for more teleportation options and other boosts for other tasks.

If you’re visiting a patch for the first time, you have to rake it first before planting the herb. Otherwise, you harvest until the patch clears and then plant the seed. As soon as your character starts the animation for picking, you can spam harvest to harvest at double speed. Do this for all patches.

You should also set an alarm for about every 80 minutes so you can start your harvest and planting as soon as they’re ready. That way, your farming time isn’t too wasted.

Ironmen even at lower levels should still compost their patches, if only to decrease the chance of it dying. Every patch counts so, you really need all the protection you can get.

Conclusions

That’s how you farm Herbs effectively. From keeping them alive to increasing yield, you now know all you need to know about it. With the right herbs, you’ll soon have enough OSRS gold to get aTwisted Bow! Well, okay, at the very least you wouldn’t have to search shady sites for OSRS gold for sale because you need it.

Remember to stick to your routine so you don’t miss a patch and keep up your yield. Even if there are patches that are immune to disease, composting them still doubles your harvest. Keep in mind all these tips and information for a fruitful and prosperous Herb Farming endeavor. As for profits, planting what’s currently in demand (even if it’s not too expensive), can be more profitable than always going for the pricey herbs.

Go out and enjoy herb farming with these tips and tricks! Have fun, and may your harvest be bountiful and profitable. If u like our article so like given comments and share article  if u want know more then visit our website for more detail
