Tear trough dermal filler before and after

Tear Trough Dermal Filler

Our eyes are one of the first features that we notice about one another. We all want to look fresh and alert but hollowing and dark circles under the eyes can often give a more tired and aged appearance. This is because, as we get older, facial volume is lost and skin loses its elasticity, often leading to a more hollow appearance under the eyes. Tear trough dermal filler treatment can minimise this appearance of hollowing by adding volume, to give a more rejuvenated and bright-eyed appearance. At Serenity, we only use the highest quality products that are specifically designed for tear trough dermal filler treatment.

What Is Tear Trough Dermal Filler?

Tear trough dermal filler is a highly skilled treatment that should only be performed by an experienced practitioner. Hollowing under the eyes can make you feel tired and aged, due to the shadowed appearance. Some people naturally have a more hollow appearance under the eye and for others, under eye hollowing appears with ageing.

Often tear trough dermal filler is combined with cheek dermal filler. We do this because of the anatomical changes that take place during the ageing process, which have a profound impact on the under-eye area. At your consultation your practitioner will discuss with you the most appropriate options for you.

For tear trough dermal fillers, either a cannula or needle is used. This will be decided by your practitioner depending on the technique required and explained to you. The treatment itself usually takes around 20 minutes to perform.

What Happens During My First Consultation and Treatment?

At your face-to-face consultation with one of experienced nurse prescribers a full assessment will be carried out and dermal fillers will be explained to you. For most patients tear trough dermal fillers are combined with cheek dermal fillers in order to give structural support to the midface and to give you the most natural results, addressing the anatomical changes that happen with age. All of this will be discussed with you at your consultation and your nurse prescriber will provide you with an honest and effective treatment plan. All of the potential side effects and risks will be explained to you thoroughly so that you can make an informed decision about proceeding with treatment. We will ask you about your past medical history and will need to know any medications you are currently taking or have taken recently, both prescribed and over the counter. It is important to tell us if you have had previous non-surgical treatments, and if you know the product used this would be helpful. If you proceed with a treatment option, we will require you to read and sign a consent form, after which, photographs will be taken of your face and the treatment area, all stored on your file with us for future reference. Please arrive for your appointment with minimal make up as this will need to be removed and the treatment area cleansed. After your treatment all of your aftercare instructions will be discussed with you, as well as being sent to you via email, together with an out-of-hours telephone number.

What Product Is Used?

Redensity II is specifically designed for the under-eye area. It contains Hyaluronic acid, along with 8 amino acids, 3 antioxidants, 2 minerals and vitamin B6, designed to rejuvenate the delicate eye area by not only plumping but feeding the skin vital nutrients. Unlike other dermal fillers that draw water quickly to the treated area and can cause swelling, Redensity II slowly draws water, acting more like a sponge.

Are Results Immediate?

Although you will see some results immediately after your under eye filler treatment, best results will be seen 4 weeks after treatment, when the dermal filler has fully integrated into the skin tissue. We will invite you back for a review appointment at this stage. Occasionally, a touch up may be required at the review appointment.

Who Is Suitable for Tear Trough Dermal Filler Treatments?

To ensure that you are suitable, a thorough assessment will be carried out at your consultation. Typically, those with under-eye hollowing, rather than just pigmentation are suitable for this treatment. Under-eye dark circles can be caused by the shadow created due to hollowing rather than pigmentation. That is why It is essential for your experienced practitioner to see you for an initial consultation to ensure tear trough dermal fillers are appropriate for you.

Under-eye hollowing can affect younger patients, though it is generally seen as we age. The skin around the eye area is 10 times thinner than anywhere else on the body and it becomes even thinner over time. There are changes to the structures underneath, including bone reabsorption, descent of the cheek, loss of volume to the midface and muscle weakening. All of this contributes to a more hollow and tired appearance of the under-eye area.

To treat pigmentation under the eye, topical products can be used to help lighten and brighten the skin. (link to home skin care page) AlumierMD offers advanced medical grade skincare that uses clean science to deliver you effective results.

If there is too much skin laxity then you may not be suitable for dermal fillers into the tear trough area. If this is the case, you may be more suitable for radiofrequency.(link to radiofrequency page) We are also able to offer you a surgical referral so that you can seek the opinion of plastic surgeon, if you would like.
