Are you worried about your shoulder collapsing? Do you ever wake up with a sore shoulder, reach for something on a shelf, or look over your shoulder, and then BAM, you’re zapped? You’re confined because your neck is locked and in severe pain.

Two weeks ago, I had a day that was on the verge of being a disaster. The initial warning twinge has occurred to me so many times that I can recognise it. I’m aware that if I don’t act swiftly, I’ll lose the next day or two.

Understanding The Signs And Symptoms Of Shoulder And Neck Pain

On Thursday, it all started. Tension is typically the first stage in creating the perfect storm, in my experience. I had a crazy day at work, then went to college in the evening when I had a surprise practise exam. Once I had sports massage treatments scheduled for Friday, as well as an agreement to take my daughter ice skating, which entails an hour round trip to Cardiff, and I know that sitting in a car traveling will aggravate me.

I knew I had to act immediately when I awoke on Friday morning with the first twinge of a warning twinge in my shoulder. Otherwise, my day would be wrecked.

Take a hot shower first. Ensure that the water is as hot as you can tolerate. It’s great for your health!

Why is it advantageous to you? Heat causes muscles to relax and expand, which they appreciate. What about taking an ice bath? This is effective if you have damage-related inflammation and want to reduce swelling in the affected area. But what if the discomfort is due to damage? It appears to be a case of trial and error. I know what I’m talking about since I’ve been there. I’ve discovered that the taser-like pain I occasionally get is amplified by stress, which causes tension, which constricts the area and compresses the nerves, and then bam. My neck and shoulders are no longer there.

Simply stand in front of the shower, move your shoulders in gentle circles, bow your neck to one side, and nod yes and no gently. Movement is magical, despite what your warning pains are telling you. You don’t want to put too much tension on it, so just perform gradual, moderate shoulder rolls. Turn your head slowly from side to side. Find a quiet spot to unwind. If you can’t take a shower, try a hot water bottle, a heat blanket, or a hot bath instead.

The problem is that when those muscles hold tension on a regular basis; the nerves that give them movement impulses are compressed as well. By applying heat, rotating the area, and using massage to loosen the fascia surrounding the muscles; I was able to avoid the dreaded shoulder explosion.
